John Hoag and Mary Caufield will demonstrate making white bread! All of the action steps will be shown, so that you can see how the bread should look at each step. Work along with us as we mix and knead the dough. While the dough is rising, we will take dough that has already risen and form it into loaves. At that point, we will take a third batch which is in loaves and has risen, and we will bake them. You will see the final product before the time is up!

Village members are encouraged to prepare a lunch item to share with other members. While we cannot assemble for a potluck lunch, we can see what everybody has made over our Zoom line. Make something that comes with a story. Was it a family recipe? Is it something only made in your region of the country? Is this the item you cooked for your spouse on the evening that you were engaged?

Memorial Day Observation Ceremony (10:00 a.m.)
Rod Ross, a Village member and former historian at the National Archives and Records Administration, will share his personal connection with the holiday and lead a Village program to honor those who have given their lives in service to their country. The series of video clips selected for the program will: provide the background behind Memorial Day; take us back a few years to a special service in front of the mausoleum of John Logan, the individual who created Memorial Day back in 1868; remind us of our collective debt to the fallen through excepts from speeches of four Presidents; and honor the fallen through musical tributes to service men and women. The program will appropriately end with the playing of Taps.
